Character Information Name: Toshiro Hitsugaya Journal Name: Fandom: Bleach PB: Scott Clifton Character background: As a young child, Toshiro grew up with his grandmother and a future Soul Reaper, named Momo Hinamori. He and Momo became close, almost like brother and sister in their little makeshift family. Momo was a good few years older than Toshiro and she often teased him just for being the younger one, though he was usually quick to retaliate. Then came the day when Momo left the family to enter the Soul Reaper Academy. Toshiro never let her know that he was sad to see her leave, though he knew, even at that young age, that his life would never be the same now that his sister and best friend was gone. He knew he was different from most in the Soul Society, even before Momo went off to train at the Academy. From a very early age, Toshiro had the unique capability to actually be aware of his zanpakatou, the ultimate weapon of any Soul Reaper. The majority of Soul Reapers needed years of training to go through this process. One day, after a dream he had that became almost too real, Toshiro is convinced that he needs to sculpt his Soul Reaper powers. He enters the training academy and swiftly makes his way through the ranks. As a Soul Reaper, Toshiro became known as the boy genius. His spiritual capabilities, along with his intelligence, helped him climb the ranks to become the youngest Captain of the court guard squads that the Soul Society had ever seen. He became the Captain of the 10th Division, with Rangiku Matsumoto as his lieutenant. However, his rank wasn’t earned without a heavy price. As part of the final training for new Soul Reapers to graduate from the Academy, they must connect with their inner spirits to discover their zanpakutous—the Soul Reaper weapons that come in the form of powerful katana swords. Toshiro and his closest friend, Kusaka, discovered that for whatever reason, they earned identical zanpakutous—a weapon called hyorinmaru, that specialized in powerful ice attacks against its enemies. The main governing body of the Soul Society decided that it was impossible for two Soul Reapers to wield the same weapon and forced Kusaka and Toshiro to fight to the death to determine who was the rightful owner of hyorinmaru. What could have been a victory for both young Soul Reapers became a day of tragedy. Toshiro struggled and argued against the governing body, insisting that it wasn’t fair and that he would surrender his own weapon if it meant that his friend could live and they wouldn’t have to fight each other. It was decided, however, that they would fight regardless of either’s wishes. After an epic fight with the weapon, the governing body decided that Toshiro was the chosen one for the weapon and instantly after that decision was made, Toshiro was forced to watch his friend Kusaka die in front of him. He’s lived a difficult life so far, but his sharp intuition and his amazing capabilities as a Soul Reaper will certainly help him go far in life. Game wise, Toshiro found himself appearing randomly in Franklin Springs. He was in a strange place, in a strange world. Luckily he had on him the necessities to appear whole to normal humans—as Soul Reapers are not generally visible to normal people. The body that he wears allows him to pass as a human, and for this game, as a college student. He noticed strange things happening at the college and, finding himself yet again playing the role of a student, signed up for courses to fit in with the students at Emmanuel College.
